How to Get Extra Help that Will Really Help How to get extra help How about this.... I wanted to learn how to swim. I read a book on how to swim and then I drowned.
The only way to learn mathematics is by doing mathematics. No one has ever done a problem that she or he had never done before by knowing how to do it beforehand. Until you start with the tools you have you ca't begin to be successful. You can't take a journey of a thousand miles without taking the first step.
Many students learn better when they talk mathematical strategies with the fellow students. Call someone in your class when you want to really figure it out. Of course, there is always help night. But before coming to help night know how to make it work for you by figuring out what is you don't know. That is, ask the right questions.

Read about the current situation with Ohio's high school graduates Ohio STEM Report "Developing the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Education Pipeline: Advances in science and engineering are essential for ensuring America’s economic growth and national security. During the next decade, U.S. demand for scientists and engineers is expected to increase at four times the rate for all other occupations. But today’s high school students overall are not performing well in math and science, and fewer of them are pursuing degrees in technical fields." Ohio STEM report excerpt
