7TH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL
JUNIOR ART is working on a Triptych in Three Styles.
Assessment:
1. Students will work daily and the use of equipment (brushes, paint, etc.) properly.
2. Students will display a basic understanding of the art elements and design concepts (design of the portrait).
3. Students will create and gain an understanding of the three style of art.
4. Students will learn and develop craftsmanship and cleanliness.


Activity:
1. Each student will bring in a photo of him/her self and creates six thumbnail sketches.
2. The sketches are used to create portraits in three different styles (Realism, Expressionism, and Abstraction).
3. Students mount their finished products as a triptych for viewing.
4. The final day of class students will discuss insights and ideas learned about the artwork.


Vocabulary:
Realism- art style the attempts to show the subject matter, as it actually looks, details, etc.
  Impressionism- art style that uses light and color and dabs of paint to create an impression of a particular subject (looks more realistic from a distance; up close view shows dabs or brushstrokes of color).
  





PHOTOGRAPHY 1 is currently working on a Tessellation.
   Assessment: This project becomes one of the choices, as in most Photo projects there are several layers thought involved in the students work. Student grading will consist of:
  1. Daily work.
  2. Effective use of equipment both in the darkroom and in photo cutting mounting (most important) and the 4 choices stated above.
   3. Shows a basic understanding of the art elements and design concepts.
  4. Has a basic understanding of the concept of a tessellation.


  Activity: Students will have 7 days to:
  1. Set-up your tessellation.
  2. Pick the rhythm to be used from their negatives.
  3. Design the tessellation to show line, shape, texture, value and rhythm.
  4. Cut and mount the final.
