The whole purpose of school is for students to learn and for teachers to teach. In order for each of us to be able to do our jobs, certain standards must be met.
Students will come to class prepared. They will come to class with:
- Lab journal/notebook
- #2 pencil & pen (blue or black)
- lined notebook paper
- daily assignment completed before class begins
Students will come to class on time.
- On time means that you are in your seat, with materials ready, when the bell finishes ringing.
- Time between classes and/or during lunch time is appropriate times to take care of bathroom stops, office visits, etc.
- Three hall pass slips will be issued each quarter. Unused passes count as extra credit points.
Students will be courteous and well-mannered. Examples of courteous behavior include:
- Listening while others talk
- Talking only when it is your turn
- Using other peoples' belongings only after asking permission
Students will follow Science Safety Responsibilities at all times.
- This is not an ordinary classroom. There are real opportunities for misbehavior to turn into tragedy because of chemicals, glassware and heating devices.
(See Safety Responsibilities for more details.) Students will begin assignments promptly and complete them on time.
- Each assignment is designed to help you learn in a stop-by-step Manner. If you do not do an assignment you miss one of the steps. Assignments that are turned in later are often simply copies and encourage bad work habits.
- On time means that the assignment is finished before the class starts.
- If you are absent it is your responsibility to get the assignment before the day it is due. You have many places to go for this information: The assignment chart, my web page, your lab partner, and lastly, your teacher.
Students will respect school and classmates property. Remember the three R’s:
- Respect for self
- Respect for others
- Responsibility for all your actions
