English courses are designed to develop and improve your comprehension and composition skills. You will develop an appreciation for literature and composition through the study of literary elements in classic and contemporary pieces of writing. Over the next nine months, we will study the great works of Mark Twain, George Orwell, Conrad Richter and William Shakespeare among others, as well as short stories, poetry and essays. We will study the authors in context to better understand his/her language, grammar, and message. All assignment sheets, permission slips and handout can be found on this site.
Note: My English students are required to have an independent reading book with them at all times. A textbook for another class and/or graphic novels will not fulfill this requirement. As soon as students finish one book, they should get another. Having this book will count as a grade.
The Time to Speak course is about communication in all forms: interpersonal, one-to-group, large group communication and problem solving. This class combines integrate reading, writing, listening/visual literacy, and oral communication. Assignment sheets can be found on this site.
