ATHLETIC TRAINING AND SPORTS MEDICINE
Athletic Training and Sports Medicine have been around for centuries. The secondary school certified athletic trainer provides a comprehensive athletic health care program for all student athletes. Primary responsibilities may include injury prevention, the reduction of further injury by properly administering immediate care and the rehabilitation of injured athletes. The athletic trainer is also responsible for developing an emergency action plan in the event of a life-threatening injury and maintains expertise in emergency procedures.

AS A CLUB: WHAT ARE WE DOING?
As the first Sports Medicine Program in Cincinnati Public Schools, we are trying to promote the field of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine. We had a wonderful opportunity this spring to be invited to share some of our skills with Bond Hill Elementary. With the sponsorship of the American Red Cross, we were able to demonstrate to the students wound cleaning, bandaging, CPR (adult and infant) and splinting and bracing techniques.
