Sixth graders will be given the opportunity to develop technology skills this year. Besides learning how to operate various programs such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, they will have access to a basic keyboarding program. Effective communication - oral, written,and visual- will be one of our chief goals.
Becoming involved, good citizens is essential for the future of our country. We will work to expand our critical thinking skills as we study aspects of our government and current events, as well as effective leadership and cooperative group skills. We will learn how to present our ideas creatively in written, visual, and oral presentations. Learning how to participate in a debate and in a fairy tale trial will not only be fun but beneficial as well. |

3rd Quarter Projects:
* Develop skill in completing analogies
* Complete a personal study of learning styles and characteristics using a variety of inventories and organizers.
* Write a one-page, concise essay entitled "Self-Portrait."
* Begin a study of leadership and effective communication skills.
* Create small group simulations to orally and visually display effective and "non-effective" skills.
* First-in-Math - minimum of 850 stickers |
