| Beginning Steel Drum Band Fall 2007 |

Beginning Steel Drum Class
This class will introduce students to the fundamentals of playing the steel drum. All the elements of music will be utilized while learning different musical selections. We will discuss the history and construction of the steel drum. Students will be expected to perform in a minimum of one concert per semester.
Fees
$50 – User Fee – Money will go towards the tuning of the drums
and a set of ear plugs
$18-$21 - Mallets for the drums (students will own their own mallets)
* $5.00 – Mallet rental fee
$10 - Uniform Fee (Purchase of a Steel Drum T-shirt)
Grading Policy
50% - Class Participation (Students will be expected to have their mallets and music everyday)
50% - Performances – (Because this is a performance based class students will be expected to attend all Steel Drum Band performances unless given permission by the director)
Special Dates
Friday April 4, 2008 – In School Concert
Friday April 4, 2008 – Spring Steel Drum Concert – Walnut Auditorium 7pm
***This Concert is Mandatory***
Other performances will be announced throughout the year. Please be flexible and let me know about conflicts as soon as possible.
