Welcome to Ms. Earhart's home page and Room 1104. Our para-professional is Ms. Willis. On this website you will find links to our classroom calendar, schedule, and links to various educational websites.

School begins at 9:15 daily and dismisses at 3:45. Students must be dropped off on McAlpin Ave on the side of the school, not in front (the front driveway is for buses only). PLEASE DO NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR AND LEAVE IT PARKED ON MCALPIN TO WALK YOUR CHILD INTO THE BUILDING (This causes a bottleneck on McAlpin). There will be parent volunteers for the first two weeks to help your child find their destinations. Your child should walk to the kindergarten playground when he/she is dropped off. I will greet your child on the playground at 9:10 on "OUT" days. In the event of an "IN" day, your child is to walk inside the building and sit outside the classroom door, against the wall. For your child's safety, please DO NOT bring your student to school before 9:00. There is no adult suppervision before 9:00. Clifton Recreation Center is providing AM/PM care. If you need to enroll your child in AM and/or PM care, please call the Clifton Recreation Center.

Breakfast is available beginning at 8:45. If your child is eating breakfast at school, please drop them off no later then 9:00. Otherwise, please make sure your child eats a good breakfast before coming to school.

At dismissal, whether your child is picked up,riding the bus, or going to after school care, he/she will be escorted by an adult to the appropriate location.

To make dismissal time easier, a tag will be placed on your child's bookbag. A yellow bus for those riding the bus; a blue or red foot for those walking home; a car for those being picked up by car; and an apple for the children that go to a day care program after school. If your child is pick up some days and a bus rider others, your child will receive two tags. It will be the parent's responsibility to change the tag on the bookbag every morning to help at dismissal. If the tag is lost, please let me know, and I will replace it. This procedure is a "life-saver" especially for the first couple of months.

If you are picking your child up after school by car, please get the appropriate form from the office to fill out and return to school (these forms may have been given out at the Kindergarten Information meeting in May). The car pick up children will be escorted to the gym. Parents are to place a name sign, in large black letters, on the inside passenger side visor. Flip the visor down when you arrive to pick up your child. Your child will be escorted to your car. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR! If you stay after school to play with your child, please park in the school lot and meet the staff member on duty with the walkie-talkie on McAlpin. If the parking spots on McAlpin are filled, please wait in te recreation center lot. DO NOT stop in the street to block traffic. Children will not be permitted to cross the street or walk out into the street to get into cars.

If your child rides the bus or is being picked up by a "walking" person, we will dismiss out of the playground door at 3:35. Please wait outside the fenced area without blocking the gate or the walkway. Your child will be dismissed from the line as soon as I acknowledge whoever is picking him/her up. Please be patient as I learn which faces go with which child. The line will proceed down the sidewalk toward the parking lot and up the front driveway to the busses. Bus children will be dismissed to the bus from our line.

If there is a change of transportation for the day, please send a note to school in the red folder notifying me of the change. If you do not send a note the child will follow the regularly scheduled transportation. In case of an emergency during the day you must call the office no later than 2:00 P.M. to make alternate transportations arrangements. If we do not receive a phone call or the teacher does not have a note from you, your child will follow their usual method of transportation. No child will be permitted to be removed from a bus after he/she has boarded.

Please mark all articles of clothing, book bags, lunch boxes, etc. with your child’s name and room number. We have a lost and found in the cafeteria. Any lost item that does not have a name or room number will be placed in lost and found.

It is helpful to work with your child on tying shoes, fastening clothes, zipping and unzipping their bookbag and opening items in their lunch box. Microwaving student lunches is not possible during the day. Please do not send lunch items to school that need to be heated.

Your child will have homework weekly. It will be given out on Monday and should be returned on Friday. Homework is more valuable when done with an adult. Please work with your child weekly to complete his/her homework packet. If you prefer to keep the homework for the weekend, let me know, and return it on Monday. Homework will not be given until after the first month.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns about your child. I am generally available before school between 8:30 and 9:10 and after school until 4:30.
