Nouveau! Félicitations! to the 10 Walnut students who placed in the top ten ranks nationally on the 2008 National French Contest!

Congratulations! to the 14 Walnut Hills High School students who placed in the top ten ranks Nationally in the 2007 National French Contest!
Each earned a national award as well as the Laureat du Chapitre award for ranking in the top ten ranks in the state. They competed with over 20,000 students in each of their categories. Over 100,000 students participate in the Grand Concours each year.

Deciding which language to study ????
DID YOU KNOW? FRENCH IS SPOKEN IN OVER 43 COUNTRIES WORLDWIDE. IT IS AN OFFICIAL LANGUAGE IN 32 COUNTRIES.
More than 50% of modern English vocabulary words have their origins in French.

What do Walnut language students do in the summer? Student of French, Emma R. will attend the Middlebury-Monterey Institute to study Arabic. Lyla A. will be at the Concordia Language camp for French.





FRENCH AT WALNUT:
Courses: French Language AP, French 3/3AA, French 2/2AA, French 1/1AA.
The focus is on immersion and developing proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Assessment includes regular tests and quizzes, composition writing, and oral interview quizzes. Our language lab has Tell Me More software which allows students to practice pronunciation, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and speaking. Help nite: Tuesday afternoons.
Parents: please encourage your student to use the resources on this site.
This year, the curriculum is enriched with pen pals in both France and Quebec.

Walnut Hills teacher since August, 2002. I also taught French, and English as a Second Language part-time at Xavier University. My husband and I are the parents of three Walnut Hills H.S. alums.
